Perusing through the antique store the other day and found these gems.

Shipping Container Architecture

Shipping containers as homes or workspaces? Excellent idea. These containers have been converted into full fledged livable housing units. The great thing is, you don't even have to paint them really. You could just leave the artwork plastered on the side, as in the picture below. Check out more here.

Old Medicine Bottles

I did a search for old medicine bottles on google, and came across these. I love how the type works on old vintage designs. I'm amazed at how they took so much care into producing everything, even a medicine bottle. Compared to today, I think they've still got us beat.

Antiqued Antique Sign

Found this great sign while driving back from the beach. I love the layering of past signs on the small sign.

UP THERE is a documentary about the dying art of hand-painted advertising. Directed by Malcolm Murray and based on an original concept by Mother, NY, this film shows the craft of the work from the artists perspective. It's an inspiring film, especially given the fact that most of the billboards and banners today are printed digitally. The old painted ads are much more intriguing.
